Left-handed batsman Kyle Mayers has been officially confirmed as the replacement for the injured Brandon King in the West Indies 2024 T20 World Cup squad, as announced by the ICC on Friday. Mayers, who has featured in 37 T20Is, will step in for King who sustained a side strain during the match against England, forcing him to retire hurt on 23 runs. The West Indies suffered an 8-wicket defeat in that game. Mayers is set to link up with the squad on Saturday in preparation for their crucial Super 8s clash against South Africa on June 23.
