Memphis Depay is hopeful that Barcelona will be able to learn lessons from their disappointing loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League. The Dutchman has been in fine form since joining this past summer and is confident that things will get better at the Camp Nou despite their complications. “The result against Bayern was obviously disappointing,” Memphis said in a news conference with Asian media. “We have to learn from the defeat and all row in the same direction to turn things around. I firmly believe that we’ll find a way to fight for all of the titles this season. We’re Barcelona, and I want to help the club to turn things around.” Although he has started the season well, the forward is still planning on improving and doesn’t think he’s shown his best form yet.

The player has confidence in Koeman’s philosophy and how he wants to play

“I’ve started well,” Memphis said. “But I have to keep going. I don’t think I’ve hit my best. I feel good, in shape. I want to keep improving. I want to keep scoring and assisting.” Ronald Koeman has been engaged in a war of words with president Joan Laporta of late and is under growing pressure at the club, but the former Lyon forward loves working with the coach. “Koeman knows me very well from our time at the Dutch national team,” Memphis said. “I have confidence in his philosophy and how he wants to play. We know how difficult the situation is, and we have to be together and work hard. I’m comfortable. I have a coach who gives me a lot of freedom and confidence. I work very well with him, and the squad all respect him because he has a great history.”

With players having left the club this year and last, the Catalans have had to call upon several young players already this term. “We have a lot of games ahead of us, and the young players are ready to take advantage of any chances they get,” Memphis said. “They have a lot of quality, and they’re here to improve. The most important thing now is that they enjoy every game.”
