Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta says he is “feeling better already” after testing positive for coronavirus.

Arsenal closed their training ground while staff who had recent contact with Arteta are self-isolating.

“Thanks for your words and support.” Wrote Arteta on Twitter. “We’re all facing a huge and unprecedented challenge.”

“Everyone’s health is all that matters right now. Protect each other by following the guidelines. We’ll come through this today.” Added the-37-year-old.

All elite football in Britain are suspended as well until 3rd April. It is as a result of the pandemic as Arteta added on his tweet, “Well done Premier League for making the right decisions.”

Meanwhile, Arsenal expects a “significant number of people” will self-isolate including the full first-team squad.

“The health of our people and the wider public is our priority and that is where our focus is.” Said Arsenal managing director, Vinai Venkatesham.

“We are in active dialogue with all the relevant people to manage this situation appropriately. We look forward to getting back to training and playing as soon as medical advice allows.”

Footballers in self-isolation

West Ham manager, David Moyes is in self-isolation as a precautionary measure after coming into direct contact with Arteta on Saturday.

The West Ham boss has shown no coronavirus symptoms.

Chelsea’s full squad has gone into self-isolation too. Their winger, Callum Hudson-Odoi tested positive for the virus. Odoi displayed cold symptoms on Monday morning and has stayed away from the club since then.

Manchester City defender, Benjamin Mendy is self-isolating as a precaution. A member of his family was admitted to the hospital displaying symptoms of coronavirus.

Additionally, three Leicester City first-team players have self-isolated after showing symptoms of coronavirus.

It is for these reasons that football had been suspended in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, USA and Portugal.
