Pjanic is happy that he will share the dressing room with Messi

Miralem Pjanic is itching to play alongside Barcelona captain Lionel Messi, stating that “it will be nice to share the dressing room with an alien.” Miralem swapped Juventus for Barca as part of a compromise that saw Arthur Melo lead the other way, with swaps being carried out – at least in part – to balance each club’s respective books. It was a move that drew Barcelona fans’ ire, with 30-year-old Pianic being traded for a much younger Arthur, but Pianic cares little about ill-wishers as he prepares to line up alongside the “greatest player of all time”. “I have worked with some of the greatest players in the world. I watched everything from the outside, looking inside. Still, I could not see Leo anywhere except in Barcelona,” said midfielder Pjanic, citing Messi’s recent admission that he wants to leave the club.

Barcelona is Leo’s home

“Messi has done so much for this club, and I always thought he would come out in style. There is always discontent after defeat, but this is his home, and I only see Leo here. It would be unusual to see him with a different jersey. He looks pleased – he’s the greatest player of all time. It would be nice to share the dressing room with the alien.” With Pjanic entering the last stages of his career, he admits that he would have liked to have signed with Barça, but made it clear that he will do everything to ensure the club’s success when they enter the new cycle.

“I would like to come to Barcelona when I was six years old if I could! Since I was young, it was a dream to play here, to play for this club is extraordinary,” he said at his official opening as a Barça player on Tuesday afternoon.

“I’m very proud of what I did. I’m in the biggest club in the world. When I walked into the dressing room, I felt the history and what this club is striving for. It is a great opportunity to play against all these great champions. I hope I can lend a hand to my football. Boys can count on me in all aspects.”
