Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has been named as the Premier League’s Player of the Month for October after registering five goals and four assists for the Reds.

The Egyptian forward was in scintillating form for Klopp’s side, scoring in every single league game bar one in October – including a hat-trick in a 5-0 win at Old Trafford.

It is the first time the 29-year-old has won the award this season, with the winger beating the likes of England trio Ben Chilwell, Phil Foden and Declan Rice to the prize.

Among other nominees for the award were Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, Burnley winger Maxwel Cornet, Southampton defender Tino Livramento and Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans.

As well as his treble at Old Trafford, which saw Salah become the first player to ever net a hat-trick at the home of Manchester United in Premier League history, the Egyptian scored wonder goals against Watford and Man City last month.

The Liverpool man either netted a goal or an assist in every single Premier League match in October as Jurgen Klopp’s side continued their title bid.

It is the fourth time Salah has won the Premier League Player of the Month award, with his first prize coming early on in his Anfield career in November 2017.

Salah then picked up back-to-back editions of the award in February and March 2018.

The prize cements Salah’s status as one of the best players in the Premier League right now – and possibly in Europe – with the Egyptian taking the award off Cristiano Ronaldo, who won September’s prize.

Liverpool forward Diogo Jota, who has played with both Ronaldo and Salah in his career, claimed recently that playing with the Egyptian gives him the same thrill as with the Manchester United and Portugal forward.

Jota said, “He (Salah) is scoring goals for fun”.

‘Great goals, individual goals, and for us this is helpful because we have someone on the field who can decide the game, and for the opponents they know they need to be careful and we can then take the spaces that they leave because they are too worried about him.

‘I had that first feeling when I played for the national team with Ronaldo and I think I can put him (Salah) up there to the same standards, though Ronaldo has been doing it for a very long time.

‘When they are on the field they are dangerous and can score at any time. And for me that is very useful as I can watch and learn from them.’
