Mo Salah’s Representative Tweets Seven ‘crying with laughter’ Emojis Minutes After Klopp Declared they ‘Cannot do more’ to Persuade the Egyptian to Sign a New Contract.
Mo Salah has been a sensation for Liverpool throughout his time there, and many fans are concerned about the possibility of losing him if a deal can’t be reached. Salah’s current contract runs until 2023, but his extension has been discussed frequently this season.
Klopp was asked if there was anything else the club could do to entice Salah to sign a new deal ahead of Saturday’s early kick-off against Brighton.
‘Mo certainly expects this club to be ambitious, as we have been in recent years,’ he said.
‘Of course, we can’t do much more, that’s how it is; in the meanwhile, I believe it’s largely Mo’s decision.’
‘I believe the club did the best it could. From my perspective, there’s nothing more to say; everything is just as it should be right now.’
‘Nothing happened after that, so there was no signature, rejection, or anything like that, so we just have to wait; it’s good; there’s no urgency in this case.’
Salah’s agent, Ramy Abass Issa, appeared to ignore Klopp’s statements by merely posting a row of seven crying-with-laughter emojis.
Salah leads the race for the Golden Boot with 19 Premier League goals so far this season.
He’s also scored eight goals in eight Champions League games to help Liverpool reach the competition’s quarter-finals.
With one game in hand, Liverpool are six points behind Manchester City and face a big test against Brighton this weekend.
They’ve won seven games in a row in the league and know that three points will be enough to keep up the pressure on Pep Guardiola’s side.
