How do you feel after renewing?
“Very happy, it’s what I wanted. I feel very proud to continue wearing this shirt, with great enthusiasm and a good physique to continue competing at the highest level. If I continued, I wanted to do it at Real Madrid, that’s something I’ve been saying for a long time; this is my club and in my head I was just staying here. It is the best club in the world, special, with an incredible history and millions of fans from all over the world. There is nothing bigger than Real Madrid; to continue wearing this shirt is an honor”.

“Playing at the Bernabéu is still a dream for me. I feel very loved and I want to give it back by doing well, giving everything from the field. From the first day I entered the Bernabéu I realized how big this club is. When you see all those titles, Champions, Leagues… You realize that you have come to the best in the world. Everything that happens around Madrid is very big. I’ve been here ten years and I fall in love more and more. It is a love for life; this club enters your heart. It means everything to me.”
What motivates Modric at 36?
“Keep winning everything, compete at the highest level. I don’t need extra motivation because I maintain the illusion of the first day. I enjoy what I do, I love what I do, I take good care of myself, I work hard, dedicating myself 100% to football. There are no more secrets.”
He comes from winning his fifth Champions…
“It is a source of pride to know that Real Madrid has won 14 Champions Leagues and I have been to five. Something awesome. We are not yet aware of what this group of players has done. Madrid has always had huge squads, but this group, the one that has won five Champions… It’s been incredible”.
What balance do you make of this season and what moment do you stay with?
“It has been incredible. It is very difficult to stay with a moment, but I would say the comebacks in the Champions League, against PSG, Chelsea and City; These are things I will never forget. It has been an epic Champions League, fun in every way. One that we will all remember throughout our lives. But let’s not forget that we have also won LaLiga, playing very seriously from the beginning and being fair winners. And the Spanish Super Cup, a very important title. It has been an impressive, unique course that, as I say, will be remembered for many years because of how we achieved things. Inexplicable”
