Moeen Ali has revealed that the door is open for him to return to the England Test team, with the new head coach, Brendon McCullum, offering him a chance to rescind his retirement. Ali has admitted that he is the door is open for a possible return to Test cricket under new England coach Brendon McCullum’s set-up. He has also suggested the reports about him returning to Test cricket are accurate, and that Brendon McCullum’s appointment plays an intriguing part in a reconsideration. New coach Brendon McCullum suggested last week he was keen to start dialogue with players such as Moeen Ali and fellow spinner Adil Rashid, who has operated for several years as a specialist white-ball batsman.

Moeen Ali said, “Brendon McCullum messaged me asking if I was ‘in’ for the Test return. I’ve played with Baz in the IPL and really enjoyed the way he works. I told him ‘call me at the time’. We’ll see. The door is open”.

United Kingdom is celebrating Queen Elizabeth II’s 70 years on British throne and on this special Jubilee, player’s have been honoured for their service to the nation.

After being nominated, Ali said, “It’s an honour to be recognised, it’s amazing and my family are really proud and happy,” he said. “More than anything, I know it makes my parents happy.”

Moeen added: “I am humbled and honoured to be receiving the OBE in the Queen’s Birthday 2022 Honours List. I would like to dedicate this award to my parents, family and all the coaches and teammates I’ve played with over my career.

“If a boy from Sparkbrook, Birmingham can do it, so can you. Hardwork, dedication and learning from your peers are paramount to success.

“Once again many thanks to everyone involved with the awards for the nomination and awarding of the OBE.”
