Egypt national team captain Mohamed Salah has signed a contract to keep him with the Reds until 2025.

Details of the new contract

The Egyptian footballer has ended speculation over his future for the Reds by signing a new three-year contract with the club. Mohamed Salah was due to enter the final year of his current deal but has now put pen to paper on an extension that will keep him at Anfield until 2025. The striker becomes the highest-paid player in Liverpool’s history, an award for five years of stellar service since joining from Roma in 2017.

Mohamed’s new deal was only described as a long-term deal in the Reds’ official announcement, but it is a three-year deal that will see Salah become the club’s top paying player for some distance. The exact numbers are unclear and are unlikely to be revealed by either party at this stage, but it is understood that Mohamed’s salary now ranks among the highest PL earners.

This brings to an end lengthy and at times fraught negotiations, with Mohamed’s agent Ramy Abbas Issa, Reds co-owner Mike Gordon and new sporting director Julian Ward coming up with a compromise. Ramy, indeed, was the man to deliver the first hint of a breakout on Friday afternoon, via a tweet that became a trademarked scream laughing emoji that was soon retracted by the Reds’ official account.

Minutes later, confirmation came that the Egyptian had signed a short video with the words that every Reds fan so desperately wanted to hear that Mohamed Salah would stay!

What did Mohamed Salah say?

Speaking on Liverpool’s official website, the Egypt national team captain said he feels great and is delighted to win trophies with the club. According to Mohamed Salah, this is a happy day for everyone. Mo thinks it will take a little time to update, but now everything is done so that they just focus on what’s next.

Salah thinks they can see that in the last five or six years the team has always gone up. Last season they were close to winning four, but unfortunately lost two trophies in the last week of the season. The Egyptian thinks they are in a good position to fight for everything. Mo says they also have new signatures. They just need to keep working hard, have a good vision, be positive and go all out again.

Mohamed Salah added that his message to the fans is that the players on the team want to give it their all next season to try and win all the trophies. According to Salah, as usual they stay behind them and give them a big push and Mohamed is sure they will win trophies together again.
