England midfielder Mason Mount’s first-half goal was enough to guide Chelsea back to fourth place in the English premier league table.
Mount superb strike clinched a 1-0 win against struggling Liverpool. The blues’ win lays more misers to the troubled Anfield outfit. Mount’s first-half goal stood till the final whistle, keeping Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea is unbeaten.
Tuchel, who replaced sacked Frank Lampard in January, has gone 10 games unbeaten since he was appointed the coach.
“It was a very good team performance. It was a six-point game because the others lose,” Tuchel said.
“We played with courage, had excellent moments with the ball, and never lost the attitude and desire,” he added.
“The race is on. We can never rest and never celebrate. There is no time,” he warned.
While the London Blues are rallying their good form, the Reds have crashed to a fifth successive home defeat. Such results leave Liverpool without a win at Anfield since 16th December, marks the worst ever in their illustrious history.
On the other hand, his counterpart Jurgen Klopp was disappointed, admits the loss was a blow to his side.
“It is a massive blow,” Klopp admits.
“It is not about Anfield or whatever, it is in general, too often,” the former Dortmund coach added.
“In the decisive moments, we have to improve. We have to show our quality in these moments and we don’t do that often enough,” he concluded.
On other results, Everton secured a 1-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion to surpass West Ham 6ht in the English premier league table. Richarlison’s 65th-minute goal, assisted by Gylfi Sigurdsson, handed the Toffees an away win.
Jose Mourinho’s side Tottenham Hotspurs also register the same results as Chelsea and Everton in away. Tottenham clinched on to 19 minutes Abdul-Nasir Adarabioyo’s own goal to the last whistle to see-off Fulham.
