Like a story written for a special night. Everything but despair for Mumbai Indians as a glimpse of MS Dhoni the finisher came to starlit the DY Patil stadium. MS Dhoni did what he does best when his team needs him most. How cool he remains despite the pressure of the game.

Subsequently,  he successfully guide his team to victory in the last over. This time it was on the last ball of the innings as he hit a crucial boundary to take the Chennai Super Kings home against Mumbai Indians at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai.

The match was evenly balanced til the 19th over. These kind of matches are truly nostalgic ones. Credit to Dwaine Pretorious who scored enough runs from Bumrah’s overs to keep the hopes alive for Chennai Super Kings fans.

The 3-wicket loss for the Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians was the seventh of the season and they now hold the record for the worst start to an IPL season for any team. Yes, the five-time IPL champions, the most successful team in the history of the league, are the first team in the tournament’s 15-year history to lose 7 matches at the start of the season.

It has been a terrible season for Mumbai Indians as they have struggled with both bat and ball and have failed to win a single match.

Rohit Sharma’s team had a poor start to this match as a young fast bowler for CSK, with Mukesh Choudhary picking up 3 wickets in the powerplay to put the Men in Blue under pressure. But a definite half-century from Tilak Verma ensured that MI kept a credible 155 on the board.

The bowlers tried hard and almost took them home but MS Dhoni’s brilliance denied Mumbai the victory. Jaydev Unadkat failed to save 17 runs in the final over. Well, how could he, his figures against MS Dhoni are of terrible case.

“They’ll be down in the dumps. They are a champion team, having won the title 5 times. Therefore, they will all be very upset. Every team expects to lose matches but losing 7 in a row means they are (effectively). Out of the tournament,” former India captain Sunil Gavaskar said on host broadcaster Star Sports.
