India’s former captain, MS Dhoni, has a huge fan following all around the world, and the excitement they get just from his one glimpse is just amazing. In the last edition of the Indian Premier League, the way fans showed their affection towards him was such that Dhoni himself, in an interview, revealed that he got a little bit emotional hearing the chants and is really grateful for the love he received.

MS Dhoni led the Chennai Super Kings to their fifth title this season, and social media was flooded with his posts. Not only fans but many former cricketers also admire him a lot, like India’s legendary batter Sunil Gavaskar, who was seen taking autographs from Dhoni in the ground during one of the matches. This shows how much influence and popularity he has among everyone.

A similar incident was seen on Tuesday when Dhoni gifted a CSK jersey to Afghanistan wicketkeeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz. The cricketer then took social media to thank Dhoni for this sweet gesture. Gurbaz shared a picture of himself holding the jersey, and in the caption he wrote, “Thank you, MS Dhoni, sir, for sending the gift all the way from India. He also shared the picture on his Instagram story along with a GIF that read “Respect”.

During this season of the IPL, Gurbaz played for Kolkata Knight Riders, and in his eleven innings this year, he scored 227 runs with a strike rate of 133.53. In a match against  Punjab Kings, the wicketkeeper also took a sharp catch, which many cricket fans compared to Dhoni’s. Before IPL 2023 started, Gurbaz also revealed in an interview that there were two players in his life with whom the Afghan batsman wanted to play, but unfortunately he didn’t get the chance to play with one who was AB de Villiers, he was really inspired by him, as Gurbaz had followed him since childhood, but ABD retired from the IPL in November 2021. The 21-year-old also said that this year he wishes to play with or against MS Dhoni at least for just one game, and fortunately this dream of his came true as while playing for KKR he got a chance to play with him and meet him too.
