Mumbai Registers A Record Victory Over Uttrakhand In Ranji Trophy, Aiming At 42nd Title
Suved Parkar played a memorable innings on his Ranji Trophy debut and scored a record 252 runs. Sarfaraz Khan on the other hand also looked in rhythm and scored a big century (153), Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a century in the second innings and Shams Mulani took 8 wickets including taking 5 wickets in the first innings. Thanks to the stellar efforts of these players, Mumbai defeated Uttarakhand by 725 runs in the second quarter-final of the Ranji Trophy at Alur on Thursday.
Mumbai’s crushing win over Uttarakhand is now the biggest ever in first-class cricket in terms of runs. Mumbai, which has won 41 Ranji Trophy titles, is the most successful team in India’s domestic cricket circuit. They won their last Ranji title in 2015-16 and are now eyeing their 42nd trophy.
This is a strong Mumbai line-up and it was no surprise to see their complete dominance over Uttarakhand. Led by Prithvi Shaw, Mumbai were aggressive in their approach in the first innings when they posted 647 for 8 and declared.
Suved Parkar became the second Mumbai batsman to score a double century after the team’s head coach Amol Majumdar’s Ranji Trophy debut. Batting at number 4, Parkar added 267 runs for the fourth wicket with Sarfaraz Khan, who continued his stellar form in the Ranji Trophy.

In front of the Mumbai bowlers, the Uttarakhand batsmen could not last long and could only score 114 runs in the first innings. Despite the huge lead, Mumbai decided to bat again as Yashasvi Jaiswal made 103 and captain Prithvi Shaw hit a quickfire 72 off 80 balls. The two Mumbai openers put on 115 runs for the first wicket before Aditya Tare came in at No 3 and smashed 57 off 56 balls to finally score 261 for 3.
In reply, Uttarakhand team was reduced to 69 runs and Dhawal Kulkarni, Shams Mulani and Tanush Kotian took 3 wickets each. Suved Parkar also became the 12th Indian batsman to score a double century in his first-class debut. Mumbai are the second team to make it to the semi-finals of the Ranji Trophy this season after Uttar Pradesh beat Karnataka by five wickets to reach the last four on Wednesday.
