Bangladesh’s Cricket Team to Reunite with Spin Bowling Consultant Mushtaq Ahmed

Former Pakistan leg spinner and current spin bowling consultant for Bangladesh, Mushtaq Ahmed, has expressed his eagerness to return to the national dressing room after completing his current commitments. Mushtaq’s impact was felt during his short stint with Bangladesh, especially in the guidance he provided to young leg spinner Rishad Hossain, who excelled in the ICC T20 World Cup, picking up 14 wickets.

Despite briefly joining England U-19s as a spin consultant, Mushtaq has confirmed that discussions are underway for a reunion with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). He stated, “I have signed commitments with different teams and counties, but after December, I hope to be more available to work with Bangladesh again.”

The BCB has also expressed their desire to continue working with Mushtaq, with positive negotiations ongoing. BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury mentioned that they are keen on having Mushtaq on a long-term basis, potentially leading up to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

If a long-term agreement is reached with Mushtaq, he is expected to be part of Bangladesh’s upcoming tours and tournaments, including the ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan. The BCB remains optimistic about their collaboration with Mushtaq and the positive impact he can bring to the team’s performance, especially in white-ball cricket.

Overall, the cricketing community eagerly anticipates Mushtaq’s potential return to Bangladesh’s coaching setup and the valuable contributions he can make to the team’s success in future competitions.
