Spalleti made a big impact on Napoli’s performance. Team is ready now to dominate Serie A while Juventus is not playing well.

Napoli dominating after five rounds

Slightly surprising name sits atop the Serie A table after five rounds of fixtures. With a 100 percent record so far, Luciano Spalletti has Napoli leading the way in Italy’s top tier, even above the likes of Inter, AC Milan and Roma, whose starts have all been lauded. With five wins from five, 14 goals scored and just two conceded, the Partenopei are making many in Italy sit up and take notice.

One of the big reasons behind Napoli’s success so far this season has been 22-year-old striker Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian already has five goals this season, whereas he didn’t score his fourth until April in the 2020/21 campaign. Osimhen’s 70 million euro price tag raised eyebrows a year ago when he joined from Lille, but he is starting to show just how lethal he can be. Leicester City learned just that in the Europa League, and he’s giving Serie A defenders sleepless nights as well.

Spalleti’s team has a long way to go

Behind him, Lorenzo Insigne has been quietly settling back into domestic duties after impressing at Euro 2020, and even Fabian Ruiz has rediscovered some form, helped by the excellent start to life in Italy being made by Andre Zambo Anguissa. It should be said that Napoli haven’t had the toughest of starts to the season. They’ve played and beaten Juventus, but the timing of that game couldn’t have been better for Spalletti’s side. Other than the Bianconeri, they’ve beaten Serie A newcomers Venezia, Genoa, Udinese and Sampdoria. October will see them face Fiorentina, Roma and an improved Torino, though, so Spalletti will have a much better idea of what his squad can achieve this season by the time November arrives.
