Underdogs of cricket world will face two time World Cup champion in the first ODI of West Indies tour of Nederlands.
Netherlands vs West Indies, West Indies tour of Netherlands, 2022
Date: Tuesday, May 31, 2022
Time: 02:00 PM IST
Venue: VRA Cricket Ground, Amstelveen
Nederlands previously faced defeat at the hands of New Zealand when they toured New Zealand. Although, the magnitude of this match isn’t as intense as other matches but West Indies will fancy their chances against Nederlands. On the other hand, Nederlands will try to do something extraordinary and uplifting to make their presence visible in the international cricket arena.
Match is tilted towards the West Indies. However, in recent matches, West Indies has lost three consecutive series when they faced India, Australia and Ireland. They have mostly struggled while batting first. Nederlands, too, have had sweet and sour previous years when they were whitewashed by New Zealand and Afghanistan in 2021/22 playing season. In 2021, they defeated Ireland in 2-1 series win and since then, they have remained winless.
Nicholas Pooran will lead his first time as a full time captain. Last month, after disappointing performances in Indian Premier League, Kieron Pollard reigned from the captaincy of the West Indies cricket team. We are likely to see some young names making their way to the West Indies cricket team.
For Nederlands, the retirement of Stephan Myburgh was a big blow. The Dutch veteran was a famed player in the international arena and after playing his last ODI against New Zealand, he decided to retire from international cricket. Young Vikramjeet Singh and Bas de Leede have looked good for the team and to defeat West Indies, they will need to create some wonderful performances.
