Netherlands vs England preview
An important season is on the way for the Netherlands. Recently Netherlands had to face defeat against West Indies. Yet continues with the eagerly anticipated tour of England for their maiden ODI tour. They will be looking to make a comeback after six consecutive ODI series losses against New Zealand and West Indies. He played competitive cricket against both the teams but lost easily.
Captain Peter Seelar would have been encouraged by his batting performance, with the Dutch passing 200 in all six matches except one. But he was never really in danger of being upset. It is important to remember that the Dutch are impressed not only by their English-based county stars but also by the absence of their head coach, Ryan Campbell.
The matches come amid a crucial period for the Netherlands, who will use the series to prepare for the T20 World Cup global qualifiers in July, when they and seven other sides will fight for the remaining two berths in the tournament in Australia later.
The Black Caps and Pakistan will then tour the Netherlands for white-ball matches in August. Just two wins out of 13 in the Cricket World Cup Super League mean their hopes of automatic qualification are almost over, but another shocking win over England would have a seismic outcome nonetheless.
The victories in the 2009 and 2014 T20 World Cups remain the most famous victories in their international history and it is up to Eoin Morgan and his half-strength team to ensure that. This will be the first series for new white-ball head coach Matthew Mott to come from Australia Women since his appointment last month.
England Have Changed Their Approch & Mindset, The New Era of Test Cricket
Things haven’t turned right since the world champions since their 2019 win, losing the home series to Australia, losing to Ireland and losing to India. Last summer, he thrashed an unlisted Sri Lanka before beating Pakistan 3-0 in the second string, his most impressive performance since that dramatic afternoon at Lord’s.
New, in-form players such as David Payne and Luke Wood will get the chance to make a foray into international cricket, while others such as David Malan and Liam Livingstone will make use of the games ahead of the domestic white-ball summer, when India and South Africa are the visitors. .
Tom Cooper is also included in the provisional squad of the Netherlands, who will play one-day internationals for the Netherlands after nine years. The 35-year-old has not played an international match since 2016, having been part of several World Cup teams in 2011, 2014 and 2016. He ended a dodgy Big Bash League campaign with the Brisbane Heat after the 2020/21 season left South Australia out of a batch of contracts.
Although Shane Snater and Fred Klaasen are named in the group, the Dutch do not have a slew of county-contracted players, including Colin Ackermann, Brandon Glover, Paul van Meeckeren and Roelof van der Merwe. Seamer Tim van der Guggen has been ruled out with a long-term hamstring injury. Peter Seelar will captain the side, which will be reduced to 15 players before the start of the series.
England’s 14-man squad for their maiden ODI tour of the Netherlands is severely left-handed. Gloucestershire’s Payne has been rewarded for his tremendous blast form, while Wood has taken wickets in all but one of Lancashire’s matches in the competition. The uncapped pair is ready for their international debut.
Reece Topley, Sam Curran and David Willey are expected to play good roles. Despite his fitness concerns, Morgan is ready to lead the team. Tourists are naturally without World Cup winners Joe Root, Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow in the second and third Test between England and New Zealand.
Sam Billings and Matt Parkinson, the latter have now joined the Test squad. But Malan, Livingstone, Phil Salt, Brydon Karse and Moeen Ali are all part of the team.
