Jesse Lingard

Jesse Lingard didn’t get a chance to say goodbye to the club, but Gary Neville doesn’t think it’s his right.

What did Gary say about Jesse Lingard?

The former defender says there was no reason the English player deserved to be sent to Old Trafford after the Red Devils’ playmaker failed to appear in the club’s final home game of the season against Brentford.

It’s been another disappointing season for Lingard, who failed to follow a last-term loan move to West Ham with increased minutes under Solskjaer and Rangnick as Manchester United staged an infamous subpark season ahead of Ten Hag’s arrival this summer.

His absence last week sparked annoyance from the player’s family after reporting Paul Scholes’ words suggesting the dressing room was a disaster – but now Gary has dismissed the idea that Jesse was supposed to have a farewell match.

Gary Neville said that a lot of nonsense was said about Jesse Lingard. Lingard has been with the club for a long time and has done a good job.

Neville saw Steve Bruce and Bryan Robson not play in their last games for the club and not get sent to the cup finals. They were both great captains and one of them is probably the greatest captain Man Utd has ever had.

They didn’t get what they wanted, so Gary isn’t sure why Jesse deserved it. According to Gary Neville, he was thrown down the toilet in West Brom – sometimes it just doesn’t work, Jesse!

Gary talking about Manchester United

The ex-Manchester United defender has been among their harshest critics in a campaign that has seen behind-the-scenes rot at the Old Trafford bubble on the surface compared to their big six rivals – and he admits he can’t wait for that to end.

Gary Neville added that it has been a shocking few months. Gary can’t wait for the season to end and stop talking about them. Gary can’t watch them because it doesn’t represent anything a football club should be, let alone Man Utd.

According to Gary, the players only hurt themselves to the point where the fans won’t forget. They sang “you’re not fit to wear a shirt” – Gary says he’s never, ever heard Man Utd fans resort to that chant. It’s been a shame for a couple of months now. It’s embarrassing. Erik ten Hag has a great job.
