Chelsea owner Todd Boehly will talk with Thomas Tuchel to confirm Romelu Lukaku’s temporary exit from Stamford Bridge.
Lukaku has been linked with a return to Inter Milan.This is after he struggled to establish himself in the Chelsea starting lineup following his club-record £97.5 million summer transfer.
The 29-year-old striker’s contract at Stamford Bridge expires in four years, although he has stated that he would like to return to Serie A to play for his previous club.
Inter cannot afford to sign Lukaku on a permanent basis from the Premier League heavyweights. As a result, they’re hoping to work out a loan arrangement with the London club.
Tuchel will meet with Boehly to negotiate a possible loan deal for Lukaku. Boehly will allow the Belgian striker’s exit if it is financially feasible.
As soon as Boehly authorizes Lukaku’s loan period, he is supposed to have a private plane waiting for him to go to Italy.
If Boehly rejects the move, Lukaku is expected to request a meeting with the club’s American owner to discuss his future with the club.
Meanwhile, Inter hopes to achieve a deal with Chelsea by the end of June in order to benefit from the Growth Decree rule.
The system allows Italian teams to purchase foreign players with large tax benefits if they stay in the country for at least 24 months.
While on international duty, Lukaku was quizzed about his future, since he is apparently prepared to take a 50% salary reduction to enable a return to Italy.
Reporters asked the 29-year-old whether he will return to Italy this summer before Belgium’s 4-1 loss to Holland on Friday.
The striker, who was hurt during the Nations League match, remained tight-lipped, telling reporters that he ‘can’t talk about the future’.
However, in a shocking interview towards the end of December 2021, Lukaku indicated his desire to return to Inter Milan.
