Vitinha had a tough time at Molineux but is now on her way to the Parc des Princes after an impression for Porto.

Vitinha cost PSG a lot

A new era is beginning at PSG and Portuguese footballer Vitinha (Vitor Ferreira) has been part of the process since his move from Porto. Ferreira is added to the stellar ranks at the Parc des Princes after a stunning reversal in fortunes at the club level. The loan spell at the 2020-21 Wolves outfit PL failed, but the hot prospect is now linking up with the Ligue 1 champions after rediscovering his spark back at home.

Vitinha cost Paris Saint-Germain an expensive €40 million fee. The French champions will consider this deal an investment for their present and future, with even more potential to be unlocked in Ferreira’s game. The Portugal international has signed a five-year contract with the club, tying him until 2027.

Why did Vitinha sign a contract with Paris Saint-Germain?

The midfielder is a product of Porto’s academy and signed up for the Portuguese giants at the age of 11. The senior debut in the cup clash with Varzim took place on January 14, 2020, after which the player took part in the meeting with Gil Vicente. With playing time in short supply and with Porto needing to comply with Financial Fair Play rules, a season loan at Wolves was sanctioned in September 2020.

Vitor Ferreira did not play in the PL until he faced Man Utd in December and registered only one goal – in the FA Cup clash with Chorley – in 22 appearances in all competitions. The Wolves decided not to run their €20m purchase option but may now regret the decision. On his return to Porto, Vitor quickly earned a place at the heart of Sergio Conceicao’s 4-4-2 system, with his ability to carry the ball and select a pass allowing him to register four goals and three assists in 47 games.

A high-profile campaign at club level saw the midfielder garner top international recognition with Portugal in March 2022 when his country made their World Cup qualifier play-off debut against North Macedonia, who booked tickets to Qatar 2022. Vitinha will hope to stay involved in this competition starting in November but will face stiff competition for places at Paris Saint-Germain – avoiding the stated interest from Man Utd to lead France – and will have to prove their worth time and time again.
