Nicolas Pepe has told his new agency to find him a new club during the summer transfer window after becoming frustrated with his lack of playing time under Mikel Arteta at Arsenal.

Pepe joined Arsenal from Lille for a club-record £72 million in 2019 but has been relegated to Mikel Arteta’s squad this season. In 22 appearances for the Gunners this season, the Ivory Coast international has only three goals and five assists.

Arteta has started Bukayo Saka on the right wing in his normal 4-2-3-1 formation, with Pepe making just five Premier League appearances this season. That dissatisfaction has now reached a boiling point, with the 26-year-old looking for a move away from north London this summer.
Pepe has changed agencies and told his representative to find him a new club. That scenario would suit Arsenal, who are apparently open to bids for Pepe, who is regarded disposable by Arteta and sports director Edu despite making 111 appearances for the club and scoring 27 goals and 20 assists.

Following two disappointing performances, Pepe’s diminished status at Arsenal has become increasingly evident in recent weeks.

After being chastised by Arsenal coach Albert Stuivenberg for carelessly conceding control late in the 2-1 win against Leeds, he put in another mediocre performance off the bench in the 2-0 loss to Newcastle on Monday.

Pepe’s disappointing appearances off the bench appear to be his last efforts, with only one game remaining this season, against Everton on Sunday. Arsenal, on the other hand, may find it tough to unload Pepe, who has two years left on his contract and is said to earn over £140,000 per week.

Marseille and Lyon have been linked with a transfer, with the French teams supposedly eager to give him a return to Lille in Ligue 1, where he established his reputation.

Whatever happens with Pepe, Arsenal is anticipating a busy summer transfer window. After spending over £150 million on six new players last summer, another inflow of players is expected this off-season, regardless of whether they qualify for the Champions League.
