The Reds signed another sensational South American player Darwin Nunez after Suarez
When will Darwin Nunez debut?
The Reds have signed the Uruguayan footballer from Benfica. Darwin Nunez came on as a top transfer target for Liverpool this summer and his arrival came just in time with the departure of their star player Sadio Mane. The Reds will pay Benfica £64m in advance to sign the Uruguayan and could pay up to £21m more in add-ons.
Having worked his way through the ranks with Uruguayan giants Penarol before starring for Almería in Spain’s second division, Darwin has proven himself to be a prolific striker in both Portugal’s top flight and last season’s Champions League. Darwin Nunez scored 26 goals in 28 league appearances in 2021-22 and also found the net on six occasions in Europe. But when will a player take the field for the first time for the Reds?
The Reds are expected to begin their preseason on July 4th. However, Liverpool will soon fly to the Far East to play two friendlies on 12 and 15 July respectively. The first of those will see them face domestic rivals Man Utd at the Rajamangala Stadium, Bangkok, Thailand as part of the Bangkok Century Cup. Whereas their next match is against the Eagles in Singapore. So, there is a possibility that Darwin will make his debut for Liverpool on July 12 against the Red Devils.
What game will Nunez debut in?
Following the end of pre-season, the Reds will resume competitive action on July 30th when they host the Citizens in the Common Shield at the King Power Stadium in Leicester. If the Uruguayan player manages to win the tie, then he will get his hands on silverware at the very beginning of his career in England. In terms of a PL debut, Darwin could have taken his bow against a resurrected Fulham on 6 August. If Darwin Nunez does not play in this game, his next chance to make his debut will come on 13 August at Anfield against the Eagles.
