Meitei was earlier part of Kerala Blasters which signed him in 2020. He played nine matches for Kerala. From the age of 10, Meitei was a lover of football. He trained initially at a local stadium to improve his technical ability and made it into his district team and then to the youth nationals Manipur football team.
In 2008, he signed Mohun Bagan to join his academy. A year later, Meitei joined the Sambalpur Academy in Odisha. After going back to Manipur, Meitei was recommended for testing at Pune FC. Dinachandra got selected for the academy.
While Pune F.C. Academy, he won the I-League U19 twice. On 5 August 2020, Methi joined Kerala Blasters from TRAI FC. He made his first appearance for the club against Chennaiyin FC and a year later signed a new three-year contract with the club Kerala Blasters, keeping him at the club until 2024.
Meitei was included in the Kerala Blasters squad for the Durand Cup last year and played his first match against Bengaluru FC. Last season, he played his first match in the ISL against BFC as a substitute for Nishu Kumar.
Denechandra Meitei has represented India at the U23 level where he played for the Blue Tigers in a tournament held in Bangladesh. The versatile defender, who can also fill in a defensive midfield position, will add more strength and depth to the OFC backline for the upcoming season.
Meitei was part of Kerala Blasters, which was the runner up in 2021. Now they will have a new chance to up their game. At the same time, it is expected that he will get a chance to play matches associated with the new team so that he can also gather experience.
