The English Premier League postponed Manchester United, Liverpool clash after angry fans invaded Old Trafford in an Anti-Glazer protest.

The invasion led to the league management to reschedule the clash to a date yet to be announced. Confirming the postponement, the Premier League says in the statement the tie has been postponed due to the breach of security at Old Trafford.

The Statement reads, “Following the security breach at Old Trafford, the Manchester United vs. Liverpool game has been postponed.”

“This is a collective decision from the police, both clubs, the Premier League, and local authorities.

“The security and safety of everyone at Old Trafford remain of paramount importance. We understand and respect the strength of feeling but condemn all acts of violence, criminal damage, and trespass, especially given the associated COVID-19 breaches. Fans have many channels by which to make their views known, but the actions of a minority seen today have no justification.”

“We sympathize with the police and stewards who had to deal with a dangerous situation that should have no place in football.

“The rearrangement of the fixture will be communicated in due course,” the statement confirms.

Manchester United blasts the fans’ action to invade the pitch and endangered everyone. Despite their “right to free expression and peaceful protest”, the club says they are sorry for the disruption.

The action has not only postponed the tie but also delayed Manchester City’s title fate. City needs only 2 points to be crowned the EPL champions or United losing a game. Many thought perhaps the Old Trafford tie would have been that decisive moment.

Meanwhile, United shifts their focus to the mid-week Europa Semi-final second Leg against Roma. The Red Devils match to AS Roma tie boasting a 6-2 first leg result. Despite the first leg big win, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes there is still work to do.
