Excitement is building as the Olympic Games in Paris this summer will feature the 28th men’s football tournament and the eighth women’s event. With Brazil failing to qualify for the men’s tournament, the throne is up for grabs, while Emma Hayes will lead the U.S. women’s team for the first time.

The draw for both tournaments took place in Paris on March 20, 2024, with all participating nations confirmed. Notably, reigning champions Brazil did not qualify for the men’s tournament, while the Dominican Republic, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and Guinea will make their tournament debuts.

In the women’s tournament, all 12 spots have been secured, with Canada aiming to defend their gold medal after beating Jamaica in a play-off. The draw has set up exciting group stage matches in both the men’s and women’s events, with France, the United States, Spain, and Canada among the top contenders.

The men’s tournament will kick off on July 24, followed by the women’s tournament on July 25. The gold medal matches will take place on August 9 for the men and August 10 for the women. It will be the first time the Olympic football tournaments conclude with the women’s final.
