Since the World Cup 2023 schedule was revealed, for the first time Pakistan’s skipper Babar Azam has addressed the match against India and explained where he and his team stand in terms of touring the country in October and November. Although the schedules have been announced, the Pakistan Cricket Board is still hesitant to come to India as they are concerned for their security. Because of this, the PCB also asked the ICC and BCCI to change the venue of two matches, but their requests were rejected, and the latest reports say that Pakistan will give the final approval only after being fully convinced of the security arrangements.
Babar addressed the IND vs PAK match
After returning to Pakistan from Hajj, Babar was seen in his first press conference ahead of the series against Sri Lanka. One of the questions asked of Babar was whether Pakistan’s wait to win the World Cup would end. When the skipper was asked about the possibilities of finally holding the ICC World Cup trophy, and that too in India, the reporter also claimed that Pakistan cricket was being humiliated. Babar quickly shrugged.
He said, ‘ I have been listening to this a lot. We are going to play the World Cup, not only against India. Apart from India, there are other teams that we have to play against. If we beat them, we will enter the finals. The focus of our team is not on a specific team but on all ten teams. The plan is to play well against all the teams and claim the ticket to the final.
The epic battle will be played in Ahmedabad
The mother of all battles, India vs Pakistan, will be played on October 15 at the iconic Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad. India is leading the encounters against Pakistan in ODI World Cups by 7-0. Pakistan will be eager to turn history , they have already broken the failure streak in the T20 World Cup when their team defeated India by 10 wickets in 2021. Pakistan will be returning to India after a decade, as the last time Pakistan’s team came to India for the tour was in 2012.
As a professional we have to be ready- Babar
During the conference, Babar also stated that the idea of their team is very simple, and wherever there is cricket, there will be matches. He said that you have to be ready for everything as a professional to play in different conditions and environments, this is called a challenge. As a skipper and batsman, his aim is to perform well for the country and win matches. “This is what we have in our minds, and not only the thought to do well against just one team’, he concluded.
