Dembele’s next destination – Premier League?

In what has rapidly become one of the bigger sagas of the January transfer market, Ousmane Dembele is being pushed out of Barcelona. There is a suggestion that his destination could be the Premier League. A meeting between Dembele’s agent, Moussa Sissoko, and Xavi Hernandez, alongside Barcelona’s club leaders, was a fruitful one because it, at the very least, brought a consensus to the situation. The verdict was simple: Dembele’s best option is to find a new club to play for. A sale is the best solution for everyone, especially with Dembele’s contract expiring on June 30. However, a loan for the remainder of the season hasn’t been entirely ruled out, especially with Adama Traore arriving on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Spaniard plays in the exact same position as Dembele and can, for all intents and purposes, be considered as his replacement.

The player’s agent is working furiously to find him a good destination

With just three days until the market closes, it is difficult for Dembele to find a new club. However, his agent is working furiously to find him a good destination, and the most likely is the Premier League. Three teams are actively considering the option of signing the French international in England: Manchester United, Newcastle United and Chelsea. All possibilities are being put on the table, although it has been made clear to the player’s entourage that Manchester City have no interest in his services. Paris Saint-Germain are an option, especially with injuries to Neymar and concerns over Lionel Messi’s fitness, but it is a Premier League switch that is being focused on now.

Barcelona are playing the waiting game, sitting tight until Dembele’s agent presents them with an offer. However, there is a degree of angst for this to be completed with haste, not least because two other Blaugrana transfers depend on it. Alvaro Morata is a forward who Xavi greatly admires, and he will be available after Juventus signed Dusan Vlahovic. However, Barcelona don’t believe Atletico Madrid would do a deal with them for the forward. Now, attention has turned to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, although his high salary at Arsenal makes any such move very problematic. Nicolas Tagliafico, as a left-back reinforcement, is also dependent on Dembele leaving, with the Argentine acutely aware that if no money arrives from that sale, then there will be insufficient funds to complete his signing.
