The pitch was as flat as highway track that only two innings could be completed in the match. However, rain, bad light and wet outfield spoiled the game, both for the players and visitors.
Pakistan declared the first innings at 476/4, thanks to Imam-ul-Haq (157) and Azhar Ali (185), both batted wonderfully.
Whereas from the Australian side, two batsmen missed the chance to score a century and the entire team was all out for 459. Left-arm spinner Nauman Ali took six wickets conceding 107 runs in 38.1 overs.
In the third innings, Pakistan scored 252 runs without losing a wicket. Imam scored 111 not out and Abdullah Shafiq scored 136 not out. Pakistan was still playing its third innings when the match was declared a draw.
Imam scored 157 runs in the first innings and 111 not out in the second innings. He scored his first century in Test cricket in the first innings. Also, he has scored more than 700 runs in Tests. With Shafiq, he shared a 250-run partnership in the second innings and it became the highest opening wicket partnership for Pakistan against Australia.
Azhar Ali scored 185 runs in 361 balls. He hit 15 fours and three sixes in his innings. In Test cricket, he has scored 19 centuries and has scored 6,906 runs at an average of 43.43. He has overtaken Dilip Vengsarkar (6,868) and K Barrington (6,806) in terms of Test runs. Also, he scored his fourth Test century against Australia.
Usman Khawaja scored 97 runs with 15 fours. He scored his fifth fifty against Pakistan and also completed his 500 runs against the team. In Khawaja’s career, 3,239 runs have been scored with the help of 15 half-centuries.
David Warner scored 68 runs in 114 balls. He has scored 1,152 runs against Pakistan at an average of 78.10. Warner has scored 7,652 runs at an average of 47.52.
