Pakistan vs Australia 2nd Test: Usman Khawaja Hits 50, Labuschagne Did Unwise Run Out, Pakistan Not Happy With Runs
It’s lunchtime and Australia after having a fine start has scored 100 for 2 in 27 overs. A good decision to bat on first has paid off. If Labuschagne didn’t commit a suicidal run out, it would’ve been totally Australian domination in the first innings of the second test.
Australia is having the best time on a relatively different wicket than Rawalpindi. Quicks are getting the pace of the pitch so the openers had to bat sensibly with concentration. The outfield is pretty quick so there is value for shots which has been the case so far.
David Warner made it through a gruelling first hour and appeared to be on his way to a payday. However, after quickly moving to 36 in a good opening partnership with Usman Khawaja, the left-hander was beaten by an outstanding delivery from Faheem to leave Australia 1-82.

After Pat Cummins won the toss and decided to bat in Australia’s first win of the tour, the left-hander escaped two near lbw calls from Hasan Ali. There were a number of balls falling short in the slip cordon. The wicket is expected to show its true colour from day 2.
In such a case, winning the toss and batting first gives a spearhead advantage. Further on, Australia can exploit the uncanny conditions. In Rawalpindi, the pitch was almost like a road track laid down for a couple of centuries which the Pakistani batting line-up enjoyed.
Currently, Australia is batting and has crossed the 100 run mark with ease. Steve Smith and Usman Khawaja are batting crease. The left-handed opener is in form and started from where he left in Rawalpindi. Looks settled for now, the century might be near off.
Marnus Labuschagne did a self runout. He pushed the ball towards the mid-off and called for a single which was absurd as he lost his wicket. On a wicket, where a player of his calibre could’ve scored plenty of runs, resulted in a duck.
Steve Smith, who missed his century in the last match, will be looking forward to providing Australia with an opportunity to win. The scoring rate that started over 4 is now 3.70.
