In the third test played against Australia, Pakistani middle-lower order crumbled and fell 115 runs short of the target. However, Babar Azam tried his best to repeat the historic innings played during the run chase in Rawalpindi. But he had to depart in the end because Steve Smith caught him off the boots in slips.

Australian quick bowlers were all over Pakistan in the first innings. In the second innings, it was Nathon Lyon who finally bagged 5 wickets and became antagonist for Pakistan.

Australia had set up a target of 351 runs for Pakistan to win, chasing it, Pakistan’s team was all out for 235 runs. Pakistan lost the three-Test series 1-0, losing the match by 115 runs.

Further back, Australia scored 391 runs in the first innings thanks to brilliant innings of Usman Khawaja’s 91, Steve Smith’s 59, Cameron Green’s 79 and Alex Carey’s 67. In response, the Pakistan team scored a chaotic collapse, from 210 for 3 to 268 all out. Shafiq 81, Azhar Ali 78, Babar 67 were high scoring players.

In the third innings, the Australian team scored 227 runs. The unstoppable Usman Khawaja again scored a terrific century on a challenging wicket.and Australia gave a target of 350 runs to Pakistan to win. For the first 45 overs, Pakistan looked in good control to draw the match. However, once the ball got a bit old, the reverse swing and turn of the pitch didn’t allow any batsmen to stay for long enough time.

Cummins took five wickets in the first innings while Lyon took five wickets in the second innings to take Pakistan away from victory.

The first Test of the series was played in Rawalpindi. Playing first in that match, Pakistan had scored 476 runs thanks to the centuries of the openers. In the second innings, Australia scored 459 runs. When Pakistan came to bat in the second innings, they did not give any chance to Australian bowlers. Both the openers put on a partnership of 252 runs by scoring centuries and the match was drawn.

The second test was held at Karachi in which Australia scored 556 runs while batting first. In reply, Pakistan’s team was reduced to 148 runs. Australia scored 97 runs in the second innings and gave a target of 505 runs to Pakistan. Here Babar Azam played an innings of 196 runs for Pakistan and got the Test drawn. But with the defeat in the third test, Pakistan has lost the three-Test series.
