Pakistan vs Australia

The first Test between Pakistan and Australia being played in Rawalpindi has progressed to a draw.

At the end of the fourth day’s play, Australia have scored 449/7 in their first innings. Still, the visiting team is 27 runs behind Pakistan. Pat Cummins (4*) and Mitchell Starc (12*) are currently at the crease for Australia.

The last session of the third day was disrupted by rain and poor lighting. After about an hour of play on the third day, the rain was seen on the fourth day as well. On the fourth day, the play of the first session was spoiled due to wet ground.

Thankfully, ground personnel did an amazing job and the play started with a delay of about three hours on the fourth day. The rain spoiled the game for almost 40 overs.

Marnus Labuschagne, who remained unbeaten on 69 on the third day, batted well on the fourth day as well, but lost his wicket 10 runs away from his first century in Pakistan.

Labuschagne scored 90 runs in 158 balls which included 12 fours. Shaheen Shah Afridi showed Labuschagne the way to the pavilion. Before getting out, he shared a 108-run partnership with Steve Smith for the third wicket.

After Labuschagne’s dismissal, Smith and Cameron Green took the innings forward. The partnership of 81 runs for the fifth wicket between the two. Smith played an innings of 78 runs in 196 balls and became the prey of Nauman Ali.

Green was dismissed after scoring 48 runs in 109 balls. He was also dismissed by Nauman. Green was fifth while Smith was dismissed as the sixth wicket. Both Green and Smith lost in a very unusual fashion.

Both could’ve left the ball to pass it to the keeper but they kind of unsettled themselves in playing unusual shots. However, credit to Babar Azam for setting up a wonderful field to break a formidable partnership.

Australia had used eight bowlers in Pakistan’s first innings and till now Pakistan has also tried seven bowlers. Sajid Khan has bowled 45 overs and got one wicket.

Left-arm spinner Nauman has taken a maximum four wickets while bowling 37 overs. Naseem Shah and Shaheen Afridi got one wicket each. Shaheen has bowled 28 overs and Shah has bowled 21 overs.
