England and Pakistan will come face to face after 17 years. There has been a long wait and indeed it is a 7 matche series which will give both teams equal opportunity to prepare in best way possible for the upcoming world cup 2022 taking place in Australia.
It has been a disappointing white ball summer for England. They began with a outstanding performance against Netherlands, ticking up all the boxes but an abrupt decision by Eoin Morgan to hanged his gloves and Jos Buttler took over the captaincy.
However, it didn’t go well. A loss of touch for Jos Buttler and continuous series defeat at the hands of India and South Africa have shown that the English side still needs to develop a sustainable method to win games.
For Pakistan, Asia Cup has been the filter they need to check their strength and weakness. Having a world class bowling line-up, the team still needs to make some changes in batting order. Babar Azam is out of form and Mohammad Rizwan lacks the potential threat to destabilize the bowling attack.
Middle order was exploited badly by Afghanistan then Sri Lanka. They couldn’t offer calculated shots. Also, they were undecided against the spinners, whether to attack or defend. Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid will be tough test for Pakistani batters.
