Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam has praised his team’s 22-year-old batsman Abdullah Shafiq. The rising star has done well in domestic cricket, and against the Australian cricket team in the ICC World Test Championship he scored his maiden Test century in the second innings of the first Test at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Shafiq has scored 547 runs in 9 Test innings at an average of 68.37. During this he has scored a century and 4 half-centuries. Babar Azam recently gave an interview to a Pakistani newspaper, where he shared his views on Abdullah Shafiq.
He said that he always enjoys Abdullah Shafiq’s stylish batting shots and added that his teammates often compare him to Kane Williamson and Rahul Dravid.
Compare Kane Williamson and Rahul Dravid
Babar Azam said, ‘I see Abdullah’s stylish batting and definitely enjoy him. He plays very neatly. Usually we compare him with Kane Williamson and Rahul Dravid. We call them Dravidians. Opener Shan Masood’s place can be doubted in Abdullah’s presence, but our main objective of selecting someone is in the interest of the team.
The performance of the Pakistan cricket team in the new cycle of the ICC World Test Championship was not good. They recently lost the home series 0-1 against the Australian cricket team.
To ensure that the Pakistan cricket team makes it to the final of the World Test Championship in 2023, the duo of Babar Azam and Abdullah Shafiq will need to score a lot of runs for the team.
