The situation
The Administrative Court of the city disregards this request from LaLiga, but it will study its demand in the coming months. The Paris Administrative Court has refused to provisionally suspend LaLiga’s request for the termination of Kylian Mbappé’s renewal contract by Paris Saint-Germain and the nullity of the validation of the club’s accounts by the National Directorate of Control and Management (DNCG). Both requests were rejected on the same day as the Court understood that there is no urgency and will only assess the merits of the matter. “We expected it,” explained Juan Branco, LaLiga’s lawyer, to AFP. “It was a technical resource, what matters is the substantive sentence.” The case will not be resolved before the end of the 2022-2023 season. “Our steps in France face strong resistance.
The details
This is just the first of them before reaching the European courts, in a few months” , adds Branco. LaLiga asked the Court to “cancel the administrative decisions” of the approval of Mbappé’s contract by the Professional Football League (LFP) and take action on PSG’s accounts. LaLiga accuses PSG of having presented “false balance sheets, deliberately fanciful provisional budgets and having disguised sponsors who are directly dependent on the Qatari authority (such as the country’s tourist office)”. “This situation structurally affects the possibility of fair competition without distortions within the internal market of the European Union (…) and the principles of sporting equity”, explains the lawyer. This decision made by the Paris Administrative Court does not surprise LaLiga, which does not take it as a defeat, since its intention to request the precautionary measures was to speed up the process in court. That is to say, the objective is not to annul the renewal of Mbappé, but that the eyes are set on the medium-long term to put an end to the irregularities in the accounts of the Parisian club, since they understand that the Financial Fair Play is skipped.
