In the summer transfer window, the French champions failed with loan offers for Alli when Tottenham refused to sanction his exit. However, it is now clear the midfielder does not feature in Mourinho’s plans having not made a single Premier League start since the opening day loss to Everton. In this match, he was substituted at half-time.

The 24-year-old was left on the bench in Spur’s Europa League on Thursday. Moreover, the club is now prepared to let Alli depart when the transfer window opens next month. Hence, PSG thinks they will their man.

Meanwhile, Alli is open to leaving the Premier League leaders as he seeks first-team football. He has not given up hope of making Southgate’s England squad for next summer’s delayed European Championship. But he knows getting regular playing time is his only hope of a recall.
