Patrick Bamford

Patrick Bamford has only recently returned to the starting XI but will return to the sidelines after an injury against the Wolves.

A little about the topic

Leeds United have confirmed that the English footballer will be out for at least six weeks with a foot injury. Bamford missed most of the season with ankle and hamstring injuries. Patrick returned to action this month and has played in the last three PL matches, but he lasted just over 20 minutes in a recent clash with wolves before having to pull out with an injury.

Club statement

Leeds United revealed that the player once again faces several weeks on the sidelines. A statement on the club’s website said that following meetings with consultants earlier this week, they can confirm that Bamford has torn his plantar fascia, which is an injury to the sole of the foot. On a positive note, the player will not need surgery. Although recovery time varies for each athlete, Patrick Bamford is expected to be out for at least six weeks.

The club’s head of medicine and performance, added that as all statistics show, Bamford has put his body on the line for Leeds for a number of seasons, he has played with a plantar fascia injury for the past 12 months and despite treatment and a lengthy recovery period, the injury progresses from partial rupture to complete rupture.

As all sports medics know, plantar fascia injuries are notoriously difficult to manage, but all stakeholders are confident that Patrick Bamford will make a full recovery from this injury in due course. Patrick has been incredibly unlucky this year, with his playing time limited by a variety of injuries, including an ankle injury sustained at Newcastle and hamstring and quad injuries in training and matches. The player needs a period of rest and rehabilitation so that his body can fully recover.
