Paul Pogba’s time at Man United may be drawing to a close as his contract expires this summer, but the midfielder has spoken out about battling depression throughout his career.

Paul Pogba of Manchester United has boldly disclosed that he has battled depression throughout his career.

When he returned to United from Juventus for £89million in 2016, the midfielder became the world’s most expensive player. However, his second stint with the club has drawn widespread criticism, and he is now scheduled to become a free agent in the summer.

Pogba has now admitted that he battled depression throughout his playing career. Pogba acknowledged the difficulty of confronting reality and the “unmistakable signals” of simply wanting to isolate in an open and candid conversation with Le Figaro.

“I’ve struggled with depression throughout my career, but we don’t discuss it,” Pogba claimed. “There are times when you are unaware you are, when you simply want to separate yourself and be alone; these are undeniable indicators.” Pogba enjoyed a meteoric ascent at Juventus after leaving Manchester United as a teenager, excelling in a tremendously successful club. He appeared in a Champions League final and won numerous trophies with the Serie A heavyweights before returning to Old Trafford.

Jose Mourinho signed him, but Pogba was charged with being a big player in a side anxious to reclaim the top flight. The Frenchman has won three Premier League titles with the club – but none since 2017.

Pogba has worked under a new boss this season in Ralf Rangnick, who is serving as interim manager at Old Trafford. The 29-year-old has reportedly been impressed by the German and his techniques as the club chases the top four, but his summer departure is still likely, with PSG, Real Madrid, and Juventus all probable destinations.

Pogba has been able to demonstrate his talent at the international level, scoring in the 2018 World Cup final as France earned worldwide glory. He recently faced a heinous incident, as criminals stormed his home and stole his World Cup winners medal while his family was present. “I am well, as is my family,” Pogba confirmed. I had a fairly surprising week, starting with the Champions League match, where I found that I would not be playing, and ending with my return home, where I discovered that my home had been stolen by three persons who stole my safe.

“It contained my mother’s jewelry, as well as my World Cup medal… What frightened me the most was the fact that my two children were at home with the nanny at the time of the occurrence. She overheard everything, immediately contacted my wife and security, and then locked herself in a room with the boys (ages 1 and 2). She was in shock for several days thereafter. What matters most is that my children are doing well.”
