The French midfielder was booed off the pitch by some Red Devils fans after being substituted in Saturday’s PL game over Norwich City.

A little about the topic

Paul Pogba has struggled to make his mark in that time frame, first under Solskjaer and then Rangnick, with the World Cup winner previously leaning away from Manchester United on a free transfer in the summer. Information that Man Utd had submitted a renewal offer that would make him their highest paid player in recent weeks, however, caused concern among parts of the club’s fanbase who were quick to express their displeasure after he left the field following his performance against the Canaries.

Starting in midfield for Man Utd as they rocked Norwich at Old Trafford, Paul was relatively anonymous between Lingard and Fernandes. The midfielder failed to pitch any key touches during the first half, which saw the hosts blaze two goals ahead through Ronaldo before Kieran Dowell hooked home a response to a half-time dribble and then Teemu Pukki the equalizer after the break.

The failure to impose much on the game subsequently led to the choice of an interim manager to hook him up for Rashford – and as Paul walked off the serve, Manchester United fans’ clutches could be heard to chant obscenities at the playmaker as he left the action before Cristiano Ronaldo rolled to the rescue with matchwinner for his latest hat-trick in Man Utd colours.

What’s next for Paul Pogba?

Talk about the future of the former Juve player – a superstar in production when he returned to Man Utd and with a reputation only enhanced by his role in Les Bleus’ World Cup victory at Russia 2018 – has been a major topic at Old Trafford during this time frame.

With a deal expiring at the end of the season, questions were asked if the midfielder would leave on a free transfer after a second spell at Old Trafford, which, after an initial splash of silverware under Mourinho, fell short of expectations and saw him become a common scapegoat nearby with skipper Maguire.

But reports suggesting a deal escalation to keep him in the Theater of Dreams seems to have been met with great disdain, and may well have contributed to the florid response sent to him during Saturday’s game.
