Paul Pogba has insisted he has not yet decided on his next move, despite expectations he will leave Manchester United as a free agent this summer.
Pogba, who became the youngest player in France history to earn 90 caps on Friday, said: ‘nothing has been decided about my future, nothing has been done. I have the option of making a decision tomorrow, just as I have the option of making a decision during the transfer window. I want to bounce back and have a strong finish to the season.’
PSG and Juventus are among the clubs interested in Pogba, but their ability to provide him the salary he desires will be important, while staying at United has not been ruled out.
Pogba, on the other hand, has been unhappy during his time at United, unable to contend for the trophies he expected when he returned from Juventus for £89 million in 2016.
He has struggled to conceal his unhappiness with United’s performances, telling French television station Telefoot: ‘The season is not yet gone, but it is close, because we no longer have any titles to defend.
‘I want to win titles and compete for something, and we haven’t won a title this year or in the prior few years. It’s tragic.’ Completely [representing France is a breath of fresh air]. That is accurate. At United, there were some trying times, and I needed this vacation to recoup my energy and confidence.’
‘At times when I wasn’t playing or my results weren’t great, being here provides me a lift, a breath of fresh air that also helps me return to my club in excellent form.’
Pogba is one of five United players who are out of contract this summer. Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, and Edinson Cavani are all expected to leave their current clubs, while goalkeeper Lee Grant could be offered a coaching position.
United are still in the process of appointing a new manager, and that decision will have an effect on the players’ decisions.
