CricketPBKS beat CSK in a last-ball thriller, picking 5th win

In the 41st match of the Indian Premier League where Chennai Super Kings faced off against Punjab Kings in a last-ball thriller encounter.

MS-Dhoni-led CSK has posted the mammoth total of 200/4 on the scorecard with the courtesy of Devon Conway’s unbeaten 92 off 52. However, Dhawan-led PBKS held their nerves for the very last of the match and barely cross the line to chase down 201.

With this win now both teams have shared the same number of points on the posits table 10 each after nine matches. But CSK stand ahead of PBKS with a slightly better net-run rate in the league and PBKS stand in 5th place.

CSK vs PBKS Match Report

The Yellow Army scored 200 runs for the loss of four wickets after winning the toss at Chepauk. In response, PBKS needed 3 runs off the last ball. Zimbabwe’s all-rounder Sikandar Raza, playing a clever shot, combined with the finisher for PBKS Shahrukh Khan for 3 runs, giving his team their 5th win of the season.

When 22 runs were needed in the last two overs and nine runs in the last over and three runs were needed off the last ball. Lankan seamer Pathirana also bowled so good overs for CSK till the last. But the game turned around in the 16th over when PBKS came back in the match with an expensive total of 24 runs including 3- huge sixes from English batter Livingstone.

Batting first after winning the toss, 4-time IPL Winners CSK got off to a good start with their openers. Black Caps opener Devon Conway (92 not out off 52 balls) and Indian opener Gaikwad (37 off 31 balls) shared an 86-run partnership for the first wicket for CSK.

For the second wicket, the left-handed batter Conway shared a 46-run partnership with the all-rounder Shivam Dube who played a quick inning of 27 off 18 balls to lay the foundation for a big score.

However, the English all-rounder Moeen Ali hit fours against Livingstone and Sam Curran but was stumped by Chahar in the 17th over. However, the lone warrior Devon Conway guided CSK to cross the score of 200 runs for his side and MS-Dhoni gave the finishing touch by hitting 2 sixes in the 4 balls of the last over.

For PBKS, left-arm seamer Arshdeep and Proteas bowler Rabada bowled in the 18th and 19th overs miserly and barely leaked runs, giving away eight runs each.

Sam Curran removed Jadeja 12 off 9 balls on the first ball of the last over. And MS Dhoni came to end the game as usual by smashing 2 big sixes in the end.
