Pedri trained at Madrid three days

Barcelona star Pedri has revealed he went on trial at Real Madrid during his teenage years before being told he wasn’t good enough to play for the Spanish giants. Pedri trained with the team for three days, and had things went differently; he almost certainly wouldn’t have joined Barcelona in 2020. “I went there to Real Madrid, and the first few days I couldn’t train because there was snow on the pitches,” Pedri told reporters. “I trained three days. One, I think they were playing, and they took me down with the B team to train, and in the end, they told me that I didn’t have the level to be there and that they were going to leave me to keep looking.”

“At first, you don’t like being rejected anywhere, but then it motivates you to think that if they didn’t want you, now you’re going to work hard so that something else can come in the future.”

The player is enjoying himself at Barcelona

“Now I’m where I want to be at Barcelona. I have never met a person who said no to me. I don’t remember who he is. I would tell him that now I am enjoying myself at Barcelona.” Pedri started in Barcelona’s 4-0 Clasico away at Real Madrid last weekend, and he claims that the team’s celebrations afterwards were not over the top, despite the fact they are still 12 points behind Los Blancos. “When you win 4-0 against your arch-rivals, you will celebrate it like this because you get immense joy,” added Pedri. “It was an unforgettable match, but now we are in the Spanish national team, and we are all a team. Here we look the same and laugh the same way. We don’t hesitate with that. We are a team, and we want to win together.”

Pedri will wear the No.10 shirt if he starts for Spain in their international fixtures against Albania and Iceland this week. However, he says he would have chosen the No.8 shirt in honour of his idol Andres Iniesta who scored Spain’s winning goal in the 2010 World Cup final. “They gave me a choice, and No.10 is a number that I like, one which has been worn by important people like Cesc Fabregas, who is a spectacular player, and I chose it because of that,” said Pedri. “The number I like the most is No.8 because Andres Iniesta wore it, and I always liked him since my childhood, but here it is worn by Koke, and you have to respect that.”
