The Manchester City manager has told Jack Grealish to ignore critics and says the English striker is making a big difference.
What did Pep Guardiola say about Jack Grealish?
£100m Jack Grealish has yet to recruit or create an assistant this season, although his campaign has been affected by an ankle injury. But the England midfielder cut an upset figure in the mid-week Champions League win over Borussia Dortmund when the player was substituted for the Citizens 1-0 down before goals from Erling Haaland and John Stones turned the game around.
Ahead of the clash with the wolves, the Spanish manager said he wants Jack Grealish to make goals and Pep wants him to make assists and he does too. But according to Pep Guardiola, that’s not the point, it’s his contribution off the ball and what he can produce for others and the many, many things he can do.
Asked about external criticism, the Manchester City boss added that he always tells them: “You know exactly how you played, what we were looking for, what the game plan was, if it works or doesn’t work.” Pep Guardiola says they are replaying it, but whether they knew the plan, whether it was wrong or positive, they don’t know it, but so they don’t need to listen to what people say, whether they played well or badly. They know, and each of them knows, whether they did their best on that particular day.
A little about the topic
Much of the criticism revolved around the English player’s contribution to the goal and the belief that the midfielder was braver with the ball at previous club Aston Villa. Jack has also previously stated that he feels he has more freedom when a player plays for England.
What will happen after that for Jack Grealish?
Jack Grealish will be looking to be part of the Pep’s side for a trip to the Wolves before joining England for their Nations League clashes with Italy and England.
