Spanish football manager Pep Guardiola has said he does not believe Klopp following his claims that the Reds are not thinking of a call to the PL title.

A little about the topic

Man City have nine points at the top of the table, but the Reds could cut that deficit to six if they beat Leeds in their hand game on 23 February. Liverpool have another opportunity to close the gap when they visit the Etihad Stadium in April. Pep warned his side that they had to be close to perfect if they were to win the league.

What did Klopp say?

Many teams have written off the title race with Chelsea and the Reds dropping points over Christmas and Man City going on a 12-game winning streak. The reds have won their last three matches despite Mane and Salah being in the Africa Cup of Nations, but Jurgen Klopp refuses to get carried away.

Jurgen Klopp said after Thursday’s win over Leicester he wasn’t sure they were in a position to put them on their feet. They have no chance of catching them, but that doesn’t mean they won’t try to play the best season possible for them.

Pep Guardiola’s answer

Asked about Jurgen’s comments ahead of Saturday’s trip to Norwich, Pep Guardiola said he didn’t believe him! Pep asked if he would give up if it was the other way around, adding that it’s absolutely possible and he thinks the same, otherwise he wouldn’t be the competitor he is. Of course, Klopp believes. according to Guardiola in football anything can happen. Klopp knows he has to win a lot of games, as they know they have to win a lot of games to fight to be champion again.

What else did Guardiola say?

The reds could reach 96 if they win all their remaining matches, and Pep expects his team will need to reach that score to secure the title. With 15 matches remaining, Pep Guardiola insists it is not impossible for Liverpool to win every game until the end of the season.

Pep added that both teams have shown over the years that they can pull off an incredible run of back-to-back wins. If one team is able, they can. According to Pep, both have the same managers, more or less the same squads and ideas. Both could make 16, 17 wins in a row. They can do it – they can do it too.
