Norwegian striker Erling Haaland has scored nine goals in five games so far, but Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola remains flirtatious on other records the player could have broken this season.

What did Guardiola say about Erling Haaland?

The Norwegian player scored the second hat-trick in as many games as the Citizens eased past Nottingham Forest, setting a new record for most goals in the opening five games of a Premier League season. The Manchester City head coach was reluctant to comment on the possibility of Haaland breaking even more records, admitting he couldn’t tell the future.

Asked at a press conference if the Norwegian is set to break more records, the Manchester City manager replied that he admires people who can foresee what will happen in the future, he cannot.

Erling Haaland was a disaster a month ago, according to Pep Guardiola, now he’s going to break everything. Pep does not see what will happen, he does not know what will happen tomorrow. Imagine what will happen in two years. They are happy with the way Erling Haaland has settled in. Not only Haaland, the back room staff and staff is as important as they help to adapt new players and comrades are really good. Pep Guardiola says this is the most important thing.

A little about the topic

The Citizens struck a deal with Norwegian player Erling Haaland in May 2022 and the striker has had a tough debut in the Community Shield, leaving people questioning his suitability for English football. Erling Haaland has certainly quelled any fears by scoring nine goals in just five games to take the Premier League by storm.

Between Erling’s first goal in his hat-trick against Crystal Palace and the last of his hat-trick against Forest, there was only 70 minutes of football played!

What’s next for Erling?

The Citizens faced Aston Villa on 3 September before heading to Sevilla for their opening Champions League group game on 6 September.
