Phil Foden was involved in a confrontation at the AO Arena in Manchester while watching Kell Brook defeat Amir Khan. A woman, who seemed to be Claire Foden, was struck by a man.
On Saturday night, as Kell Brook battled Amir Khan at the AO Arena in Manchester, Phil Foden got caught up in the chaos.
Following Manchester City’s 3-2 defeat at home to Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the evening, Foden was one of several notable names in attendance.
Footage released on social media appeared to show Foden escaping into an executive box while being pursued by a gang of men.
Rebecca Cooke, his girlfriend, swings around and exclaims, “Who are you calling a c***?” They are about to enter the secret area.
Claire, 41, a woman who looks to be his mother, enters moments later to face the group, saying, “Who’s calling him?” “F*** off now, you p****,” I said before telling them.
When she pushes one of the males, he responds by striking her in the face, escalating the situation.
As a scuffle breaks out among individuals in the vicinity, several punches are thrown, with Foden re-entering the room but taking no further involvement in the fighting.
Girlfriend Rebecca stands back as well, but can be heard shouting “Claire!”
The situation ultimately settles down, and those involved escape the scene, with one man allegedly aiming a fire extinguisher at them.
The incident is not believed to be being investigated by Greater Manchester Police.
The battle looked to start as Kell Brook was making his approach to the ring ahead of his victory over Khan, with his ring walk song, ‘All of the Lights,’ playing in the background.
“We are aware of an altercation that occurred at the conclusion of the evening as visitors were leaving the arena,” an AO Manchester Arena representative stated.
“Venue security was on hand, and no one asked for medical help.” Manchester City announced in a statement: “The club is aware of a video that has surfaced on social media depicting Phil Foden and his family being harassed and assaulted.”
“The extent of the abuse and subsequent assault on one of Phil’s family members astounded and disgusted us.
“We will continue to provide Phil and his family with all of the help and support they require.”
Foden and Manchester City had just suffered a 3-2 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur a few hours before the incident, with Harry Kane’s late goal putting an end to their title chances.
“It was a fun game, to be sure. We explored a variety of routes, particularly down the left. It’s difficult because they defend in such a narrow way “Pep Guardiola, the manager, stated after the defeat.
“Tottenham has a lot of talent, and Harry Kane is one of their best players. They’re fantastic upfront.
“They only have the goal in the first half. They had one attack in the second half, which starts with Harry Kane and ends with a goal.
“We tried to score, but in extra time, we gave up a goal.”
