Man Utd defender Phil Jones, 29, claims to see the light for him at the end of the Old Trafford tunnel, with the 29-year-old enduring a nightmarish 20-month period on the sidelines.

What did Phil Jones say?

In England, the International has not encountered red devils since January 2020, with a serious knee problem forcing him to undergo surgery and face a frustrating period watching from afar. Phil is currently on his way back to discord, with Solskjaer keeping the door open for him, and the versatile operator hopes to put his most difficult period to date firmly in the past.

Phil told the official Utd club podcast after becoming something of a forgotten man that he feels good at the moment. Apparently Phil Jones went through hell and came back in the last couple of years. Jones struggled a bit with the knee and there came a point after blocking where he thought enough was enough.

Phil kept himself in great shape over the castle and returned. But Phil remembers just how Carrington trained here, walked into the dock and said enough. Unfortunately, there was a time to take a walk, which Phil knew would be difficult for him, but that was what he had to do.

Luckily, the 29-year-old is seeing a light at the end of the tunnel now and he’s back in training, played a few games behind closed doors, and is doing very well at the moment. It’s so good to go back to training with the guys and enjoy being a football player again, because for the last 15 months it has all been Dad’s daycare and little football.

That was hard

Phil has been on the Utd books since 2011, when he was hacked from Blackburn by Sir Ferguson, and took over 224 appearances for the club. He is only tied to a contract until 2023, and faces fierce competition for seats from the likes of Varane and Maguire, but is determined to take the pain out of his life as much as possible and is ready to compete once again for competitive minutes. Phil Jones added that it was difficult. Phil thinks like a footballer, like a person, like a person, this is the lowest he has probably ever felt in his life.
