Pioli relies on the attacking duo Rebic and Leao against Udinese tonight
AC Milan Pioli is sweating for fitness as AC Milan welcomes Udinese in Serie A match. He relies on both Ante Rebic and Rafael Leao.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Hakan Calhanoglu, who both got injured on Sunday’s 2-1 win against Roma are the AC Milan absentees. Pioli has therefore entrusted his attacking to Rebic and Leao to carry Milan past the Friulians (Udinese).
The Croatian has scored five goals in the last seven games played and he was excellent against Roma.
Considering coordination the two have and Rebic’s history against Udinese, the Coach counts in the duo.
“They exchange roles well, between first striker and winger, but the same can happen and did happen even with Zlatan on the pitch. I like it when we don’t give points of reference,” Pioli said.
On the other hand, Pioli has had some positive words for Leao. Leao, who hasn’t scored since January 9, has grown a lot in recent weeks, and the coach expected more from him. AC Milan is looking forward to continuing with their winning after defeating Roma 2-1 last weekend.
Meanwhile, Andrea Pirlo defends Juventus’ side slow start against Spezia. He claimed that it ‘is normal’ when you’re playing twice a week. The manager, however, downplays that the team simply has to manage the slow starts.
“We didn’t make a brilliant start, which is normal when you’re playing every three days,” Pirlo said.
“We tried to manage the game and also created some chances in the first half. In the second half, thanks to some fresh faces, we were able to be more threatening and change the contest, with the wingers and midfielders making good runs into the box.
“As for Bernardeschi, it wasn’t the first time he’s played at full-back. He needs to improve defensively, but he has a very good engine and that’s a position where he can fill in,” Pirlo added.
