In the event that the final match of the cricket tournament is abandoned, the finalists will be declared joint winners. This decision comes as the International Cricket Council (ICC) has implemented different Playing Conditions (PCs) for the two semifinal matches, emphasizing the unique circumstances surrounding each game.

As reported by Cricbuzz, the ICC has allocated additional time for the India-England semifinal to ensure it can be completed on Thursday, while the second semifinal does not have a reserve day to prevent the winning team from facing a tight play-travel-play schedule with the final scheduled on Saturday.

The ICC stated, “There is also additional time available to ensure the completion of all knockout fixtures at the semi-final and final stage of the event.” This includes extra playing time for both semifinals and the final match, with specific rules in place to address potential rain interruptions.

India skipper Rohit Sharma expressed uncertainty about the situation, highlighting concerns about potential flight delays. The rules stipulate that a minimum of 10 overs must be played by each side for a match to be considered valid, with provisions for using extra time and reducing overs in case of interruptions.

Furthermore, the PCs clarify that if India advances to the semifinal, they will play in Guyana, which has sparked controversy among experts from England. However, if the final match faces abandonment like the semifinal, the finalists will be declared joint winners according to the established clauses.

In the event of a tied final, teams will compete in a Super Over to determine the winner. If weather conditions prevent the Super Over from being completed or the match is abandoned, the teams will be declared joint winners. Cricket fans await the outcome of the tournament with bated breath, hoping for fair play and exciting matches ahead.
