Saturdays’ Premier League match was thrilling. Liverpool scored a stoppage-time penalty to maintain their 100% winning start of the season. On the other hand, Tottenham’s struggle went on as Aston Villa thumped Norwich.

Tottenham goalkeeperLeicester seemed ready to earn a point on manager Brendan Rodgers’ first return to Anfield. However, James Maddison’s late strike canceled out Sadio Mane’s first-half opener.

Nevertheless, Mane was later on fouled and James Milner, who made the opener, held his nerve to slot in the spot-kick giving the Reds a 2-1 victory. This sent them eight points clear of Manchester City who will have their play on Sunday.

Tottenham rather hoped to bounce back from their humiliating 7-2 Champions League defeat by Bayern Munich in midweek. Instead, things proved to be difficult for them. Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris gifted Neal Maupay an early opener at Brighton and thereafter suffered an injury.

19-year-old striker, Aaron Connolly then scored in each half on his first Premier League start to seal a 3-0 victory. He gave Brighton its first win since the opening day.

In the day’s late game, Crystal Palace came from behind to beat West Ham 2-1 at the London Stadium moving to the top four.

Haller finished off a flowing move to fire the hosts ahead. But Patrick van Aanholt’s penalty and a late strike from Jordan Ayew ended the Hammer’s six-match unbeaten run in the League.

Burnley went fifth in the table by winning 1-0 at home to 10-man Everton. Jeff Hendrick scored the second-half winner with a brilliant volley from a corner, 16 minutes after Toffees defender, Seamus Coleman was sent off for a second booking.

Aston Villa’s new summer signing, Wesley doubled the goal tally in the space of 16 first-half minutes with the Brazilian striker scoring twice in a 5-1 win at Norwich City.

Jack Grealish, Conor Hourihane and substitute Douglas Luiz then scored after the break to complete the route. This earned Aston Villa their second League victory of the season.

The struggling Watford remains without a Premier League win this season after being held to a 0-0 draw at home by Sheffield United.
