English Premier League

Firstly, did you catch up with the round 6 of the English Premier League? If not, we’ve got your back. Join me as we analyze what unfolded during these matches.

Man City celebrations

At the beginning of the week, the defending champions were in crisis, falling five points behind the leading team, Liverpool.

It was only a single defeat. But obviously, there were major doubts about City’s defending and thereafter, the club’s prospects this season were supposedly fading away.

As it is, football can be hard to predict.

Tables turned for Manchester City. The club thumped Watford 8-0 on Saturday.  It was a match that had joy to watch and that left the fans in celebrations.

The first half was a thriller. It saw the club racing into the fastest 5-0 lead in Premier League history with David Silva, Sergio Aguero, Riyad Mahrez, Bernardo Silva and Nicolas Otamendi scoring in the first 18 minutes.

Unfortunately, City fell short of Manchester United’s 9-0 record win over Ipswich.

Bernardo added two more goals for his hat-trick and Kevin de Bruyne scored a late eighth goal.

As the City’s manager says, there are tougher tests to come. The Reds can restore their advantage at the top by beating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this Sunday. One obvious thing is, they will go into the game knowing City is back at its best and once again on their tail.

Burnley vs Norwich

Burnley beat Norwich who stunned Manchester City last time out 2-0 to move up to the seventh position in the table with Chris Wood scoring twice in the opening 14 minutes.

It was the second time Canaries striker Teemu Pukki has not scored in a Premier League game.

Sheffield United are only behind Burnley on goals scored after a 2-0 victory at Everton. Yerry Mina’s own goal was followed by Lys Mousset’s first Bladed goal.

Leicester vs Tottenham

Leicester City came from behind to beat Tottenham 2-1.

James Maddison’s first League goal of the season helped Leicester come from behind to beat Tottenham in an absorbing encounter at the King Power Stadium.

Harry Kane gave Spurs the lead. However, goals from Ricardo Pereira and James Maddison turned it around.
Both sides had goals ruled out for offside by the Video Assistant Referee.
